TERMS & CONDITIONS

AM I ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND A MAKATON WORKSHOP FOR FREE?

If you live in Kent and are a parent or carer for a child who has a communication difficulty, then you are eligible to attend one of our Makaton workshops for free.

Professionals who work with children with communication difficulties, or other people interested in learning Makaton are welcome to join workshops for a small donation to More Than Words Charity, and where space allows. Please contact us for more information.

WHAT AGE CAN YOU TRAIN FROM?

Participants must be 16 years or older to attend a formal Makaton workshop. If you are interested in learning Makaton alongside your child, please contact us about our family learning options and prices.

DO I NEED ANY PRIOR TRAINING TO ATTEND A WORKSHOP?

No. Level 1 workshops are a great way to start learning the Makaton Language Programme and assume no prior knowledge. Once you’ve completed a Level 1 workshop, you can progress through the other Level workshops if you want to extend your learning.

WHAT IF I DON’T WANT TO ATTEND A FORMAL WORKSHOP?

We offer less formal ways to learn Makaton including Taster Sessions, family learning and how to sign stories. Participation in any of these is available for a donation to More Than Words. Contact us for more information.

CAN I MOVE MY BOOKING?

There is high demand for places on our workshops and we will try our best to find an alternative date for you if you’re no longer able to attend. We ask for as much notice as possible if you are no longer able to attend your course so that we can allocate the place to another person.

CAN I GET A REFUND?

If you have made a donation to More Than Words Charity to secure your place on a workshop or other event, we will do our best to transfer your place to another session. The charity depends heavily on donations but refunds will be considered in extreme circumstances where we are unable to accommodate a change of date. In these instances, please contact us.

DATA PROTECTION & PRIVACY

Any data you provide is used to book your place on a course or event, provide evidence of your Makaton training, and process any payment. This data will not be shared with anyone or used for any other purpose. More information on how we handle your data is available in our Privacy Policy.
